Love Seat

It is bedtime. Lincoln and Meta were upstairs putting on their pajamas. James and I were sitting on the loveseat with Sierra. Meta came down and crawled right up onto my lap. Lincoln appeared, and climbed right onto the pile.

Family selfies!

Family of Five - Lincoln is 7. Meta is 3 (almost 4). Sierra is 12 days old.

Oma made the dress and slip and hair band. The dress is made using fabric out of my wedding gown. James and Jessi will celebrate our 12th Anniversary in three days (Oct 10th). Thank you so much Oma!!!

Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery and camping - August 26-28, 2018

On Monday the 27th, we visited the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery and the headwaters of the Metolius River.

Family camping selfie.

This is the settling pond at the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery - pretty day!

Metolius River - It pops out of the hills as a "full grown" river and it is not warm.

28th - Morning campfire - good morning guys!

Newberry National Volcanic Monument - August 14, 2018

We checked out the Visitor Center, the Big Obsidian Flow, found a "warm" springs in East Lake and saw Paulina Falls. Pretty cool area!

Lava Butte and Lava River Cave - July 30, 2018

Lava Butte is in the Newberry Volcanic National Monument near Bend. We explored an informational trail on the side of the Butte but didn't get to the top. Saving that for another day because it's over 100°F and we have a cooler adventure planned for today.

The cave is 42°F inside and it is 100°F outside. That's a nice 60ish degree temperature change. The cave is open in the summer but closes in the fall and winter to protect the bats that hibernate inside. We listened to the warnings about white nose syndrome and prepared our headlamps, lanterns and flashlights.

It is a mile in the pitch black darkness to the end.  There are places James and I had to duck a little, but mostly it was very, very large inside. Meta made it the mile to the end and hitched a ride part of the mile back out.

Lincoln was playing with the gloves i told him to put in his jacket and left them home.  Good thing his Spiderman sweatshirt has fuzzy, warm pockets.

Oregon Coast via Mary's Peak waterfall - July 23, 2018

We decided to go to the Oregon Coast this "weekend". We didn't have a reserved campsite and we didn't make it to the coast before bedtime. So we spent the first night at an empty 6 space campground on Mary's Peak.

This morning, we found a pretty waterfall along the peak road and eventually made it to the coast to search for tonight's campsite.

Basecamp for our coastal adventure.

Sunny on the coast, foggy on the water, cold wind everywhere.

Heceta Head Lighthouse.

Bridal Veil and Multnomah Falls - June 25, 2018

Day trip drive to see big waterfalls! We stopped at Bridal Veil Falls and Multnomah Falls. Most of the "waterfall highway" and hiking trails are closed because of a big fire in September 2017, so we didn't get to see any of the others or do the hike to the Multnomah bridge. It was still a fun family adventure.

Devil's Lake - June 18, 2018

Family drive along the Cascade Lake's Scenic Byway. Our first stop was Devil's Lake. Throwing rocks, walking on logs, tiny frogs and a snake. It's a cool place to explore.

Speaking in church - May 27, 2018

James and I spoke in sacrament meeting. It's the first time we've been on time to church.  Church starts at 10 a.m.  We took our "proof" selfie at 9:58 a.m.

Diamond lake - January 28, 2018

We tried to go see Crater Lake in the wintertime. But the North Entrance was closed for the winter due to snow. So we ended up at nearby Diamond Lake instead. Family drives are the best.
