Dinner and Entertainment

Uncle Jed invited us to stop at his fire station to eat dinner.
Then we got a tour and tried out the fire pole.
Thank you Captain Simpson!

Dare Devils

Lincoln and Meta are hanging by one hand.
Sierra is standing barefoot in wood chips.
These kids are tough!

Love Seat

It is bedtime. Lincoln and Meta were upstairs putting on their pajamas. James and I were sitting on the loveseat with Sierra. Meta came down and crawled right up onto my lap. Lincoln appeared, and climbed right onto the pile.

Family selfies!

Three kids in a cart

Sierra didn't like being squished. I carried her mostly.  Lincoln and Meta enjoyed "driving" around the store.

Bye Idaho!

Who is ready for a long drive home? Bye Idaho!

St.Patty's Day walk in the snow

We took a Sunday drive up to Mt. Bachelor to see how the snowpack is doing. On the way back down the mountain, we stopped at a snopark with snowmobile trails and took a short walk in the snow.

Biker gang

We walked to the Pilot Butte State Park playground this afternoon. It was sunny, but there is still A LOT of snow on the playground. It was nice to get the bikes out for a bit.

Snow day #3

We have had three snow days in a row.  Today it wasn't actively snowing, but there's a lot of clean up to do and it is supposed to storm again tonight and tomorrow.  Sierra has been a helper in shoveling.  You can see my car is covered in the background of our picture and then uncovered after I've done a ton of shoveling in the driveway.

Lincoln and Meta have enjoyed playing together.  Lots of legos and video games.  And playing outside in the snow.  They had lots of fun jumping off of the back deck into the fluffy snow and sliding on the huge pile made from shoveling off the deck.

Edit - we had 4 snow days this week. Lincoln only went to school on Friday. He will have a make up day at the end of the school year.

Daddy Monster

One of Lincoln and Meta's favorite games is "Daddy Monster" or family wrestling.  They practically beg James to play when he gets home from work.  Sometimes they don't ask, they just pounce.  It's pretty awesome to watch.

Who likes night skiing?

Lincoln! They took 4 runs in the sprinkling rain.
Lincoln says, "Yes! Please!!!!"

Company

Uncle Rod and Aunt Laura stayed one night with us. It was fun to visit since we haven't seen each other since James and I skiCed in the Reno/Tahoe area a million years ago.

Daddy Monster is a horsey!

Party hats

We had New Year's Eve at Kurt and Carlee Simpson's house in Star. We celebrated at 10:30 p.m. and the big kids loved throwing pop-its and jumping on the trampoline and shooting silly string. Thanks!

Christmas Morning at 7:30 am - December 25, 2018

Lincoln woke up at 5 am and came into our room. Sierra also woke up to eat. They both fell back asleep and we got a little bit of a sleep in before all the excitement.

Searching for snow - December 22, 2018

We had to go looking for some snow to play in before Christmas.  We found it half an hour from home near the ski resort.  Lincoln played outside for over an hour. Mostly digging a "hot tub".  Meta played until she got snow down her jacket and then she was ready to sit in the warm truck.  Sierra got cold taking pictures and wasn't happy until we got her back in the truck and out of her fuzzy bear suit.  We'll try again sometime.  The kids will want to play in the snow again!

Paddle Parade - December 14, 2018

A local watersports shop sponsors a paddle parade each Christmastime. Folks decorate their kayaks / canoes / paddle boards / rafts / etc with lights and Christmas decor. Then, near sunset, they paddle along the Deschutes.  We stood on a bridge called the "flag bridge" - a pedestrian bridge in the Old Mill District lined with flags - and waved at the boats.  At least one Santa Claus waved back. We only stayed about 20 minutes because it was windy and rainy and cold.  Lucky for us, Auntie Beth is game for lots of adventures.
