Funeral Celebration - March 5-11, 2014

March 5, 2014 It took two days to get to Salt Lake for Granddad Price's funeral.  Lincoln didn't mind playing hide and go seek in an almost empty airplane on the way down the coast.

March 6, 2014 We stayed overnight in a hotel in Seattle and that had it's own set of adventures.
March 7, 2014 - Lincoln spent the day with Oma and cousins.  We stayed at Uncle Clay and Aunt Kristen's house near Big Cottonwood Canyon.
March 7, 2014 - We had an 'extra' day in Salt Lake, so we went skiing at Alta.

Brian got in a SKI day too.
And Opa, Kristen and Emma.
The viewing was in the evening and it was wonderful to catch up with so much extended family.
March 8, 2014 - Lincoln, Gage Price (Alan and Michelle) and Krue Price (Craig and Ariana) all got some wiggles out after the luncheon on the church lawn.
At the graveside with Uncle Kurt and Rachel.  The kids thought it was great fun to play at the graveyard while the adults visited.

March 10, 2014 - back in the airport again.  It will take two days to get home again.
March 11, 2014 - chilling in the Anchorage hotel room just after midnight.
It was wonderful to celebrate Granddad's life with a weekend family reunion. It is sad to not have Granddad in this world anymore, but I know he is busy and happy and active in his next adventure and I hope to see him again.

Granddad Price - February 27, 2014

My Granddad Price passed away this week at age 88.  It is hard to be a part of the activities from a long distance.  They asked us to look for pictures of Granddad and that was something I was able to do to help.  These are some of the favorites I found.

August 1988 - My mom says this is one of her favorite photos from this age.  I don't remember anything about this adventure except for the photo. I was 10 years old.

1989 formal photo - Granddad still has dark hair!

2001 - Granddad refers to Grandma as his "bride". They reached 66 anniversaries and she is still his bride.

2010 - this was taken at the Idaho Falls temple after the wedding of my cousins Cody & Lisa Castellaw. G&G often held hands as they walked places.

September 11, 2011 - Granddad and his #66 great-grand child - Lincoln is 2 days old. I'm glad Lincoln and Granddad were able to spend a little time together on this side of the veil.

February 25, 2012 - 64th wedding anniversary. Lots of family gathered at a Chinese Restaurant for dinner to celebrate. (Lincoln is 5 months old)  Granddad preferred buffet style restaurants such as Golden Corral or Norths Chuckwagon. So the Chinese buffet was a little bit of variety.

August 5, 2012 - Price Family Reunion at Brighton Resort - couldn't tell you the names of the great-grandkids based on the back of their heads.  Granddad never hesitated to ask any question or share any advice.

August 13, 2012 - At the Wunderli Family Reunion in West Valley City. (Lincoln is 11 months old)  Granddad supported all family functions - this was a gathering of Grandma's extended family, but he made the effort to attend as many family events as possible.

September 2, 2013 - At G&G's home in Plain City. (Lincoln is two in a week.) This was on our way to Alaska. We stayed one night and borrowed tools to fix the wiring on our truck. Granddad had a garage full of tools and was generous in letting us use what we needed.

Memorial Day Weekend - May 26-28, 2012

Saturday May 26
We went to the World Super Bike races at Miller Motor Sports Park with Clay, Kristen, Emma and Aspen.  It was COLD. Rained in the morning and then was windy all day long.  Every blanket and jacket we had was put into use.  We escaped the rain for a little while by going to the race car museum.

Once the rain stopped, we had a great morning of exploring the park and watching the races.

The National Guard had a great set up with a trailer that you could do some virtual reality situational training.  A huge convoy truck to climb into. And then a couple of picture stations:  Here we are with the Patriot Chopper - Bullet Bike (it actually has bullets on the handlebars!):

The National Guard also has a couple of racers entered into this weekends races, so they did pictures with a 'race' bike too.

Sunday May 27
Another blustery cold, windy day. We didn't go adventuring today.  A Sunday at home is a lovely day.

Monday May 28
A beautiful, beautiful day after a blustery weekend!  We went back to MMSP in the morning to watch more motorcycle racing.  Today the National Guard also had a helicopter on display.
Lincoln sitting in the helicopter's crew seats.

National Guard Helicopter.  Opa said that Uncle Norm used to fly a helicopter just like this in Viet Nam.

Today we stopped by the Yamaha booth that was taking free photos on one of their bikes.  James and Lincoln:

Lincoln all by himself!

In the afternoon we drove out to Midway to meet up with some friends for food and swimming.  Lincoln played really well in the big pool until he got cold.  Then he LOVED playing in the hot tub.
Wrinkly feet

Linc and Bailey (she's in 4th grade and thinks Lincoln is the "Cutest Baby I've Ever Seen!!!")

Close Up of Mr. Blue Eyes

James and Linc in hot tub - this goofy little orange ball floats, but Lincoln never let go of it.  He'd just shake it like a rattle and then be surprized when he got splashed in the face.

On the floaty in the big pool.  After the hot tub, the big pool was COLD.  So we filled the end of the floaty with warm water from the hot tub and let Lincoln float for a bit.

We enjoyed the long weekend and the time we spent with family and friends.  We are very grateful for those who are serving and have served our country in the armed forces.  Lincoln has a proud history of family military service. Opa Simpson, Opa-Great Simpson, Granddad-Great Price,  Great Grandpa Bonnell and several more uncles all served in the military.  Thank you.

2 month appointment - November 11, 2011

Today was Lincoln's 2 month appointment.  First, we strip the baby down to his diaper.  And change it if it is dirty.  Then Linc gets weighed - 11.1 pounds (33%)!  Then the Medical Assistant (Jackie) measures Lincolns height and head circumfrence.  For height, Lincoln is lying down on the paper on the examination bed.  Jackie marks the paper at the top of Linc's head and while someone holds him to keep him from wiggling too much, she straightens his legs and marks the paper at the bottom of his feet.  Then measures the distance between the two marks on the paper. 23 inches (51%).  Measuring the head is easier, just take a flexible measuring tape and wrap it around the head just above the ears and across the forehead - 15.9 inches (56%).  The end result, our baby is perfect.

Then we have a visit with the doctor. She listens to the heart and lungs, looks in the eyes and ears and nose, wiggles the legs and arms to check the joints.  We chat about Lincoln's sleep and eating (she predicts that Lincoln will sleep longer hours once he reaches 13 pounds) and any concerns that we might have.  We wanted to know about a couple small hard bumps on Lincoln's head behind his right ear - lymph nodes that were irritated and hard, but not enlarged and will eventually soften and 'disappear'.  Curious about red marks along the back of the neck, right in the bottom of the hairline - more stork bites like the one on Linc's eyelid.  They should fade away before Lincoln's first birthday.  Dr Knowltons diagnosis: A very healthy baby, keep doing what we are doing!

Then Jackie came back to give Lincoln his 2-month immunizations.  The first vaccine is a liquid and given orally with a syringe.  That wasn't hard!

Daddy holds Lincoln still while Jackie gives the shots. Today he got three!  One in one thigh and two in the other thigh.

Ouch!

Stop poking me!

And I didn't even get cool band-aids, these are boring! (For his 4 month shots, I'm going to buy some "CARS" or "TOY STORY" bandaids and bring them with... way more fun!)

Whew!  That's done.  Not excited for the 4-month round, but we survived (and don't they look handsome!  Love, love, love the overalls look!

Lincoln slept a long time after his appointment, all the way to Grandma and Granddad Price's house.  When he woke up, he only wanted to be held.  Snuggled up against a shoulder and rocked.  Even being held, he would whimper a little.  And cry sometimes.  And sleep sometimes.  I am grateful that Grandma and Uncle Glen (he came by to pick up Kyrie (Brett and Tammy's) who was being babysat at GandGs) were willing to help snuggle my sad baby.  By the time dinner was over and we were ready to drive back home, Lincoln had stopped whimpering.  He still slept the whole way home and was only a little more fussy than usual.  He didn't cry when I took off the bandaids, but I did make him cry when I massaged the poke sites.  Overall, Lincoln survived.  His temperature is about 1 degree higher, but not a fever.  He'll recover pretty quick, but I want to snuggle him!
