On Friday we explored the Kennecott Copper Mine - James & I went in April, but a first for Kathleen . This time we could see the tops of the mountains!
Jessi and James giving scale to a tire for the big haul trucks.

The largest open mine in the world - visible from space!

The Oquirrh Mountain Temple - Open house going through August 1st. We weren't dressed appropriately for a tour, so we settled for a drive around.

Later that night, we watched the Bountiful City fireworks display.
On Saturday - Happy Independance Day! - we went hiking up at Brighton. Made it on time for the community breakfast & watched the local parade from a distance in The Outlaw (it was cold-ish and windy when sitting still).
This time we hiked up to Twin Lakes Reservoir and to the top of the Milli chair lift.
A kiss on top of Milli Tower 14.

James & Jessi

Kathleen climbs the tower - its an incredible view, and you can tell if the wind is blowing!

Then we hiked down powerline to the reservoir - one of our favorite out-of-area trails in winter. We saw a moose and her calf.
Ooooh! I found goggles!

Still some snow on July 4th!

On the edge of Twin Lakes Reservoir.

Hiked around the lake and then down the trail to the Silver Lake Interpretive trail - lots and lots of people wandering around the boardwalk. Saw another moose in Silver Lake.
Kathleen and James walking on the Silver Lake boardwalk - super crowded this close to the road!

Not as much snow as our hike in June.

Drove Guardsman's road and explored a bit of Deer Valley and Park City.
A daisy field near Deer Valley.

Stopped at the Utah Olympic Park and explored the museum. Ended up by the State Capital to watch fireworks from a distance from several different directions.
On Sunday before church, we explored Sky Line Drive - it goes from Farmington Canyon (near Lagoon) to the "B" in Bountiful. We'd only driven up Farmington Canyon to Sunset Campground, so it was a new drive for all of us. And it was beautiful up there! There is another campground called Bountiful Peak that looked like a really pretty place to camp and some great views of the city. I was expecting to stay along the ridge line, so all the area we explored in the canyons on the back side of the ridge was a nice suprise!
A couple little ponds and a view of the area Sky Line Drive winds through.
