Millcreek Canyon - September 26, 2011

The weather is incredibly warm for September and we've had some record highs during the past couple weeks.  The leaves are finally starting to turn colors up in the higher country though and James wants to go mountain biking a few times before winter.  So today, we drove up Millcreek Canyon.  I have not explored this canyon at all because it charges a fee for use.  $3 to drive up the canyon.  For a family outing, I thought it might be worth it.

Even though it is warm in the valley, it might be a little cold for our Little Bandito up the canyon.  He's so cute!

And here's James on The Slayer. He had to fix a flat tire before he could begin his ride.

See the little bit of leaf color (mainly yellow) on the hill?

And up the trail he goes.

It took him an hour to ride up to Dog Lake and then the ride down was much, much quicker.

Lincoln and I explored a different trail.  The trail was plenty wide enough for the stroller and I didn't have any problems pushing it up the uphill stretches.  I only got concerned when the trail got really, really rocky.  Then I worried about Lincoln's head bouncing around while he snoozed in the stroller.

We took the "Old Red Pine Road Trail" and went up for about 30 minutes and it took almost as long to go back down - holding the stroller back and I was wearing flip-flops. Whoops.

And here's an extreme close-up of one of my favorite photography subjects:
