A big section of the zoo near the main entrance is under construction to build a new "Savannah" area - for the lions and a big section for the giraffes, ostriches, zebras and other compatible animals to be together. The giraffe's current area is pretty small. The garage doors into their indoor area are pretty impressive! We'd love to go again next year when the giraffes have their new digs.
One of my favorite areas was for the seals. There were great big windows to see underwater from lots of different angles.
And then a viewing area above water too. This seal liked to swim upside down along the length of the pool and then dive deep and swim along the bottom the return length.
Lincoln had a pretty good view. James just picked him up to give him good height!
This is a LEGO polar bear. Several areas around the zoo had Lego animals (we saw penguins, monkeys and turtles) or exhibits that included legos.
Lincoln's favorite animal was the polar bear. He was the most active and would swim right up to the viewing window, push off the glass and out into his pool again.
Sometimes he would wander out of the water for a bit, and then dive back in.
VIDEO - Lincoln and James watching the polar bear (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUa78E9r8Vo). Lincoln was laughing a lot - until I got the video going - I only caught a little bit of laughs.
VIDEO - The polar bear pushing off the window (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oghP0cXGN0Q). This was the most crowded place we were in at the zoo.
VIDEO - Lincoln playing at the top of some stairs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYvit6EsZyk). Linc was only mildly interested in the animals. He preferred climbing stairs, climbing fences, playing in wood chips, crawling or climbing or running or hanging. Our own little monkey.
I'm certain Linc will be more interested in live animals, sometime. Today, he liked the ones he could climb on.
