Meta ready to go... Dirty face before we even started.
There were blueberries by our car and we picked a few. Linc ate most of them as we started out.
We parked at Alyeska Ski Resort and hiked past the hotel and tram to get to our trailhead. We found this amazing mushroom along the trail.

We found a bridge that might be part of the winter cross country ski trail system.
Meta rode in the backpack most of the way, but she got in some hiking around the half way mark.

2.5 miles from the hotel Alyeska is a hand tram across the river. That was our turn around spot. We crossed the river in the tram (good arm workout to add to a good hike!), explored the far side for a few minutes. Then crossed back and had a snack break before hiking 2.5 miles back to the car.
At about mile 4, Linc's knees were too tired. So I carried him for a quarter mile. Then after another snack break, James carried him the rest of the way. (Linc ended up with a blister on his left arch. Must've gotten a rock inside his shoe.) So proud of that little guy for hiking so far!
The mosquitos were negligible (or our bug spray kept them away), but the flies were miserable. Swarming around in the still air. Kept you hiking in hopes that they wouldn't land in you. Every time we stopped, they would swarm. It was annoying, but we survived.
