We took a Saturday to explore a little bit more of Idaho. We drove out to the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument and really enjoyed the visitors center. Then we tried to follow the signs out into the desert to see the fossil beds. The most interesting thing we found was some Oregon Trail signs and a snake.
James first encounter with an Idaho snake.
Poor little fellow. Didn't move an inch - not even when we walked away and watched from a distance.
Hagerman is about 40 miles from Twin Falls, so we decided to follow the Thousand Springs Scenic Byway and visit Shoshone Falls.
James proposed to me at this waterfall, sort of. He had already proposed with silver birthstone ring at the Simpson Family Reunion. (I said yes.) On a trip to Utah, just before our wedding, we stopped for a break at this waterfall. He proposed again, with a diamond engagement band that he'd saved up to buy without financing (isn't he great!). I said yes, again.I also proposed to James at this waterfall. Sometime during our engagement I bought James a very nice watch. We were driving between Salt Lake and Eagle and stopped for a break. I pulled out the watch and proposed to him. He said yes.
We love this waterfall as a drive break - even if it is only 2 hours from Boise.
